About The Builder
–About Me
Howdy, I’m Myles Russell, and I’ve spent my life existing in two distinct realms – bicycles and education. I hope that this will give glimpse into myself and Lesson Cycles, the place where pedal power and pedagogy converge.
–Bicycles: From Freedom to Finesse
My fascination with bicycles began in my childhood. They were the embodiment of freedom from the boundaries of the world. But, as I grew older, these two-wheeled marvels transformed from mere playthings into a canvas for my creative spirit. I started using and my hands, and lumber to construct ramps and jumps, usually with questionable construction techniques but the results were always the same…fun and smiles!
The ebbs and flows of life introduced me to various cycling disciplines. In my teenage years, cycling became my escape, a passion that has endured through the years. I’ve delved into XC racing, dabbled in Gravel racing, and even tested my mettle in crit racing. If I were to pick a favorite, it would have to be Single Speed XC racing.
–Agricultural Science Teacher by Day
In my day job, I wear a different hat as a high school Agricultural Science teacher. My focus primarily lies in teaching agricultural mechanics, a subject deeply rooted in my academic background. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Agricultural Science, where I honed my mechanical skills and welding expertise.
For more than a decade, I’ve dedicated my life to teaching high school students the art and skill of crafting one-of-a-kind, show-winning welding projects. These experiences made me realize that it was time to combine my two passions.
–The Birth of Lesson Cycles
In 2021, I founded Lesson Cycles, an adventure that allows me to meld family life with my love for crafting high-quality bicycle frames. This allows me to work on frames and bikes conveniently close to home, enabling me to spend valuable time with my loved ones while producing exceptional, personalized frames.
–Crafting the Perfect Ride
For me, building custom steel frames is a deeply personal process. I revel in the meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that each frame is a unique masterpiece that surpasses the expectations of its rider. If you’re in search of a one-of-a-kind bike, I’m here to design and build it for you. Your dream frame is within reach.
–Explore the Possibilities
Full builds are an option, as well as frames and forks; availability of components can sometimes be uncertain but is improving. Quality, comfort and your satisfaction remain my top priorities.
–Stay Connected and Join Me for a Ride
If you’d like to be part of this journey, connect with me on Facebook, Instagram, and Strava. If you happen to be in the Austin, Texas area, don’t hesitate to reach out, and we can plan a ride together.
